Rev. McDonald, the founder of the African American Ministers Leadership Council and President of the African American Ministers In Action of People for the American Way, has transformed First Iconium from 35 members to an inspiring 1,500. His tenure is marked by extraordinary pastoral care and spiritual guidance.
Beyond our church walls, Rev. McDonald's service includes three terms as President of Concerned Black Clergy of Atlanta and significant roles with Mayor Maynard Jackson's administration and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. His advocacy on issues ranging from economic empowerment to human rights has had a far-reaching impact.
His influence and leadership have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Gandhi, King, Ikeda Award from Morehouse College, placing him among the ranks of global luminaries. His work on peace missions and his appearances on major media platforms have furthered his mission and amplified his voice for justice and equality.
Rev. McDonald's educational achievements from Berry College and Emory University, alongside his lifelong dedication to learning and service, have set a powerful example for us all. His family, including his wife Shirley and their children Nikisha, Timothy IV, and Ebony, reflect the values of faith, service, and community.
